Supporting BLM
How to get involved: a few UK and US charities/organisations to support, amplify and champion
We’ve chosen to donate to both a UK and a US organisation. There’s loads out there, so if it’s helpful, we put together the below list – it’s not exhaustive, but somewhere to start…
UK
- Stand Up to Racism – nationwide movement that coordinates some of the country’s biggest anti-racist initiatives
- Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust – works with young people aged 13-30 from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them succeed in their careers
- Show Racism the Red Card – anti-racist educational charity
- StopWatch – coalition supporting effective, accountable and fair policing of black people
- Runnymede – independent think tank fighting race inequality and racial injustice
US/International
- George Floyd Memorial Fund – GoFund family page helping with funeral costs, counselling and legal assistance
- Black Lives Matter – the official global BLM movement operating in the US, UK and Canada
- Amnesty International’s #JusticeforFloyd petition – calls for all those responsible for his killing are held accountable
- The NAACP Legal Defence Fund – supports racial justice through the legal system, education and advocacy work
- Black Visions Collective – organisation in Twin Cities metro area/Minnesota focused on building collective power dedicated to black liberation
